Students, either children or adults, do not automatically go into the Beginner’s Band, (or any other band in the association for that matter). They must demonstrate a certain level of ability before they begin practicing with a band. To achieve this ability, there is a program of regular lessons, examinations and solo performance which help the student to accomplish the levels required for each new step.
A very important part of the process is regular practice at home. Another very important part of a player’s development is performing solos. All students are strongly encouraged to perform a number of pieces at the Gunnedah Eisteddfod each year.
